During this 17-kilometre fourth leg, drive through a glacier landscape, along the incredibly blue Lac de Moiry before reaching the comfortable hut with the same name.
Distance 16.5 km
Highest point2,985 m
Lowest point2,251 m
After three intensive legs in terms of distance and gradient, this fourth section offers a recovery day. Nonetheless, despite being a little shorter than the others, this route is still amazing. It begins and ends in comfortable huts at high altitude and crosses a whole range of landscapes. The trail takes you from the beige, moss green and coral tones of the ground around the Lac de Lona to the turquoise waters of the Lac de Moiry. On arriving in the Val d'Anniviers, it offers a splendid view of the amazing surrounding 4,000 m peaks. The patio of the Moiry hut is an ideal place to enjoy this panorama. Located at 2,825 meters above sea level, this is located directly next to the Moiry glacier. Don’t miss the sunset over the neighbouring peaks while you’re enjoying your evening meal.
Finish the day on the patio of the Cabane de Moiry. Grab a drink, play ping-pong, and enjoy the incredible view over the Moiry Glacier.

For all trails:
Use marked trails only, and take note of all signposting – for both your own safety as well as that of grazing animals and to avoid disturbing wildlife.
Close gates after passing through.
Please treat other trail users, as well as the plants and animals, with respect.
For mountain trails:
Take extra care protecting yourself from the sun at high altitudes. UV radiation can be exceptionally strong, even in cloudy weather.
Plan your trail carefully: take the fitness level of each participant, weather forecast and season into consideration.
Weather conditions can change quickly in the mountains, without warning. Appropriate clothing is therefore essential, along with adequate supplies of food and water. In case of uncertain weather conditions, turn back in good time.
Inform others of the route you plan to take. Whenever possible, avoid going alone.
Take note of warning signs indicating the constant danger in river beds and along watercourses below dams and reservoirs: water levels may rise rapidly without warning.
From the Becs de Bosson hut, the path descends in sharp bends to the Lac de Lona. This is followed by a short ascent to the Basset de Lona which offers a view of the next legs and the next passes to be crossed. Descend towards the Lac de Moiry on a wide gravel path that leads you to the water's edge. After skirting the lake, a final, and particularly demanding climb takes you up to the moraine and leads you to Moiry hut.
