Ascent

Rothwald - From the mountain station of the Rothwald ski lift you go up to the Mäderlicke at the top of the Bodmertälli. The view during the tour to the Mäderlicke is breathtaking. Afterwards the Mäderhorn can also be climbed.

Descent

Rothwald - The descent is via the ascent track. Depending on the assessment of the dangers, this can also vary.

Simplon Pass - Descend from the Mäderlicke towards the southeast to the Chaltwasser Pass plateau. From here either to Unner's Schallbett, to the Simplon Pass or to Italy to Alpe Veglia.

Author’s recommendation

Ski tourers feel at home on the Simplon. Spend the night in one of the hotels on the pass or in the village and spend a few days touring in the region.
