The trail’s motto is: From the glacier down to the village. From alpine views, refreshing glacier water and cool larch forests, it has everything.
Distance 5.8 km
The trail starts at the “Längfluh” mountain station (Längflüe) and guides you over the slope below the “Dom” and along the glacier, reaching the cliffs of the “Längfluh” rocks. The hiker crosses the ski bridge unscathed. With a view of the “Spielboden” mountain restaurant and Saas-Fee, the path zigzags down the flank to “Spielboden” and, following a short rest, continues its way behind the restaurant over relatively steep terrain towards Saas-Fee. Following the “Gletscheralp”, the trail takes the hiker into the foothills of the larch forest and towards the “Gletschergrotte” restaurant, from where the path zigzags gently through the larch forest, passing the glacial lake and the old mill wheel. After descending from the moraine and into the meadows, you follow the tarmacked roads to the village of Saas-Fee.
- Take your time to enjoy the glacier and mountain world on offer.
- With a little luck, you can find tame marmots hidden away underneath the “Spielboden” mountain restaurant.
