From Sion, the capital of Valais, you leave the Rhone valley behind and enter the Val d'Hérens. After passing through the villages of Vex and Euseigne, the road becomes steeper until it reaches Evolène, followed by a more gentle stretch to Les Haudères.
The first part of the tour between Sion and Vex takes place on a wide, relatively steep road. You then head towards Euseigne, passing beneath its famous pyramids – spectacular rocks formed by erosion! On leaving the hamlet of La Luette, the road becomes steep and straight, and the kilometres gently roll by as far as Evolène. The landscape opens out again into a wider valley and the gradient becomes much less challenging. You are in the very heart of the Val d'Hérens, one of the most beautiful valleys in the region! On arrival in Les Haudères, more adventurous cyclists can continue in the direction of Arolla to the right or Ferpècle to the left...
Don’t forget to capture yourself for posterity beneath the pyramids of Euseigne by taking a photo at the parking spot just beyond the gallery!
