The Grand Désert is a 2.25 km long glacier situated on the Rosablanche, (the highest point of Nendaz) in the Alps in Valais.
The Rosablanche, which is at an altitude of 3,336 metres, represents a very popular excursion, in summer as in winter. But no need to be an experienced mountaineer to get to the top. Accessible by a hiking tour from Lac de Cleuson or the Grand Dixence da mit can by reached by medium to good hikers. When reaching the glacier from Lac de Cleuson a rest at the border of the Grand Désert Lake which is feeded by the glacier is recommended.
